I was born in South Africa and as a child, my father would deposit me at the city library to read while he and my mother went to work. So books were my first companions. That is where my love of writing came from and has been with me ever since. I graduated from the University of the Western Cape with a major in Information Systems, a month later I was in Korea teaching English. I never did use that degree for what it is meant for.
I have spent the last decade and a half travelling and living in Asia while teaching English. During that time, I helped create and build an online urban magazine in South Africa. It grew to the point of branching out into a different city.
At the same time, I ran freelance editing and writing services. My writing projects were across varied fields, such as engineering, information technology, beauty products, academic papers, etc.
I currently live in Ningbo, China where I teach English and am the Chief English editor for Ningbo Focus, the first and only bilingual magazine in the city.
In 2018, I self-published a children’s book, which is available on Amazon here. My current project is compiling an anthology of Xhosa folklore and stories, as told to me by my grandmother.
